Journey Toward Hope
In the heart of anxiety, where grief and trauma grip every corner of society, there lies a beacon of light amid the darkness—the National Leadership Center (NLC). As Israel grapples with the ravages of war, the NLC emerges as a sanctuary, offering a path towards healing for those shattered by loss, trauma, and PTSD.
In this tale of resilience and redemption, we follow the journey of Sarah and her son, David, as they navigate the relentless uncertainty of grief and anger, seeking solace which seems so elusive.
Sarah, a widow of an IDF soldier, finds herself adrift in a sea of sorrow, burdened not only by the weight of her own grief but also by the silent rage of her teenage son, David. His once bright spirit now shrouded in darkness, David's anger becomes a barrier, separating him from the love and support of his grieving mother.
Reluctantly, they embark on a journey to the NLC, their hearts heavy with sorrow and resentment. As they arrive, tension hangs thick in the air for all participants, mirroring the hidden storm within their souls. But amidst the obstacle courses and challenges, a transformation begins to unfold.
Stepping out of their comfort zone, Sarah and David find themselves drawn together by a common purpose—to overcome the daunting obstacles before them, appropriate named The Odessey or the Leap of Faith, without getting hurt. As they navigate the challenges of the NLC, a glimmer of hope begins to emerge, peeking through the shadows of despair.
Through shared experiences and heartfelt conversations, walls are torn down, and bridges are built between mother and son. In moments of vulnerability, Sarah dares to ask the question that weighs heavy on her heart, "How can I be a better parent?"
At first, David's response is guarded, his words laced with the pain of the past. But as the day pass, honesty replaces resentment, and trust blossoms between them. In the crucible of healing, their bond strengthens, strengthened by the test of adversity.
And so, as they bid farewell to the NLC, Sarah and David carry with them not only the scars of their past but also the promise of a brighter future. As they have taken the first steps in their journey towards hope, they have discovered that even in the darkest of times, love has the power to heal all wounds.
“And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers.” Malachi 4:6

In the midst of the challenging days of war, the National Leadership Center (NLC) offers a beacon of hope and comfort. Recently, we had the privilege of hosting two groups of over 100 teachers from schools in Jerusalem and Gush Etzion. The groups who visited us found solace in their shared experiences, leaving with a renewed sense of joy that shines in their eyes and echoes in their words after they depart.
